3 m2 – that’s the size of my balcony in Zürich. I stopped smoking inside a long time ago, now I only light up on the balcony, in the morning or at night, in summer and winter. So every day, for the space of a few cigarettes, I spend time on the balcony doing nothing: I look and smoke.
My photo project 3 m2 is confined to what I can see from this limited vantage point.
It’s about groping my way photographically through my day-to-day life, a cartography of what I see, a survey of my perceptions, an effort to sleuth out and secure the evidence of what I lay eyes on day in, day out.
3 m2: Pictures from a small space that grows bigger and bigger to me as I explore it, a parallel world, a coded version of my life.
